A crowd of people can be seen in the Suryakund complex since early morning. People from far-flung areas come here to take bath, while people from nearby rural areas take bath in this hot water pool regularly throughout the winter season. Located at the foothills of the mountain, this hot water source is full of natural beauty, where the greenery all around and the peaceful environment provides a special feeling to the devotees.
Freedom from physical diseases
A total of five major ponds are located in the courtyard of Suryakund Dham. These include the first Surya Kund, second Sita Kund, third Brahma Kund, fourth Ram Kund and fifth Lakshman Kund. The temperature of the water coming out of all these ponds is different. Among these, the water of Surya Kund is considered to be the hottest, whose temperature reaches approximately 88.5 degrees Celsius. According to religious belief, bathing in Surya Kund provides relief from many physical diseases.
Piyush Pandey, priest of Suryakund Dham, says that his family has been conducting puja here for the last 16 generations. This place is related to the Ramayana period. It is believed that when Lord Shri Ram went on exile for 14 years, his father King Dashrath had given up his body in that separation. On receiving information about this incident, Lord Shri Ram had reached the banks of river Falgu when he went to perform Pind Daan of his father. At the same time, Rishi Shravan Kumar was doing rigorous penance for Lord Vishnu at Suryakund place.
How was Suryakund constructed?
He further told that Lord Shri Ram had come to this place to give darshan to Rishi Shravan Kumar. Due to long and difficult penance, Sage Shravan Kumar was suffering from many types of diseases. Lord Shri Ram asked him to ask for a boon, then Sage Shravan Kumar asked for a water pond in which bathing could cure the diseases of mankind. After this, Lord Shri Ram created this Suryakund with his arrow. Every year thousands of devotees come here to consume Amla with this belief. It is also believed that every wish made with a true heart is fulfilled in Suryakund Dham.
