Foreign Minister S Jaishankar: Ever since Donald Trump took over as the President of America, there have been many changes in the global order. The tariff policy of the Trump government has especially shaken the foundation of the current world order. The policy of ‘America First’ has forced many countries including India to make changes in their diplomacy.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar: Foreign Minister S. Without taking names, Jaishankar has given a direct and clear message to America. He said that no matter how powerful a country is, it cannot impose its wishes on others. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said on Saturday, December 20, 2025 that the order of economic and political power in the world has now completely changed. Today, not just one, but many such centers have emerged at the global level, from where power and influence is working. In such a situation, no country, no matter how powerful it is, cannot impose its will on every issue.
Addressing the 22nd convocation of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in Pune, Jaishankar said that in the present era there is natural competition among the countries and this competition itself is creating a new balance. He said that now the world is no longer unipolar, but has become multi-polar, where different countries and regions are playing their roles. The Foreign Minister said that the definition of power is also not the same as before. Today power is not limited only to army or weapons. It includes many aspects like trade, energy, military capability, natural resources, technology and human talent. This is why understanding global power today has become more complex than ever.
‘No one is omnipotent’
Jaishankar also said that now no global power is omnipotent in every field. Earlier, some countries considered themselves the leaders of the entire world, but today’s reality is that even global powers are not able to play a decisive role everywhere and in every subject. He called it a big sign of the changing international situation. Talking on globalization, the Foreign Minister said that globalization has completely changed the way we think and work. Today the world is more interconnected than ever before. The economy, technology or politics of one country directly impacts other countries. In such a situation, it is important for any country to keep the global conditions in mind while making its policies.
Youth should understand the changing world
In the context of India, Jaishankar said that if a big economy like India has to keep pace with technology, then it will have to develop modern and strong manufacturing capacity. Relying only on services is not enough. The country will have to create such industries which are in line with new technologies and can survive in global competition. He called upon the youth to understand the changing world and prepare their education and skills in the same direction. According to Jaishankar, the coming time will belong to those countries and societies which will adopt change in time and will renew their strength.
