New Delhi. There is news of great relief for the people going from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh to Palwal in Haryana. With the construction of a new bridge on the Yamuna river, the distance between the two cities will be reduced by about 35 kilometers. This bridge, to be built from Hasanpur area of Aligarh to Malav village of Palwal district of Haryana, will not only make the journey easier but will also save time and fuel.
Currently, to go from Aligarh to Palwal, people have to pass through long and winding roads. After the construction of the new bridge, there will be a straight and easy route, which will be of great benefit to the daily commuters, traders and transporters. This bridge will strengthen connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The length of the bridge will be 6.5 kilometers
The total length of this bridge including the approach road will be about 6.5 kilometers. This project was approved for Rs 110 crore on October 13, 2020. After this, Rs 99 crore was released, after which the construction work started. However, the work stopped midway due to the Corona epidemic.
Project cost increased
Later, due to increase in the prices of construction material, the cost of the project increased and a revised budget was prepared and a proposal of Rs 189 crore was sent, which has now been approved. According to officials, the construction of the pillars of the bridge will be completed by January, while the work of making the pier cap will start from February.
Implementation is divided between the two states
The implementation of this project is divided between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The Uttar Pradesh government will construct a 550 meter long main bridge as well as an approximately 4 kilometer long approach road. At the same time, Haryana government will prepare a 2 kilometer long approach road. The process of land acquisition for the approach road by the Haryana government is almost complete and the concerned department is now busy in preparing the detailed project report. The government has set a target to complete the construction of the bridge and approach roads on both sides by June 30.
