Lucknow News: Post offices based on Gen-G theme are being opened in Lucknow. In these Gen-G post offices, along with all the traditional postal services, the facility of Aadhaar registration, update and modification will also be available. Facilities like Wi-Fi, cafeteria, mini library will be available here.
The Indian Postal Department has taken a new initiative towards making post offices modern and youth friendly. Under this, post offices based on Gen-G theme are being opened in Lucknow. In the first phase, Gen-G post offices will be started in Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow University, UP Sainik School and Sarojininagar.
In these Gen-G post offices, along with all the traditional postal services, the facility of Aadhaar registration, update and modification will also be available. The special thing is that these post offices have been designed keeping in mind the needs and modern thinking of the youth. Facilities like Wi-Fi, cafeteria, mini library will be available here.
Postmaster General of Headquarters Zone, Sunil Kumar Rai said that parcel services, post office savings schemes, postal life insurance and India Post Payments Bank facilities will also be made available in Gen-G Post Office. Along with this, the facility of digital payment will also be provided through QR code.

Gen-G post office has started in IIM Lucknow from today. The post office already present in the IIM campus has been upgraded to Gen-G theme. After this, Gen-G post offices will also be opened in Lucknow University and UP Sainik School. Talks will be held with the university administration to shift the post office in Lucknow University.
Not only students but also common citizens will be able to avail the benefits of Gen-Ji Post Office. The Postal Department is already playing an important role in Aadhaar services and now efforts are being made to provide great relief to the people by providing the facility of Aadhaar registration, update and modification in educational institutions itself.
It is noteworthy that the country’s first Gen-G post office was started in IIT Delhi last month. The initiative is part of a national plan that aims to make post offices tech-enabled, vibrant and youth-centric.
