Maoist Latest News: 41 underground cadres of CPI (Maoist) in Hyderabad surrendered before Telangana Police and 24 handed over weapons. Under the relief and rehabilitation policy of the Centre, those who surrender will get a total reward of Rs 1.46 crore.
Hyderabad. In a major blow to the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation, 41 underground cadres, including six senior officials of the Company Platoon Committee and Divisional Committee level, surrendered before the Telangana Police. Officials gave this information on Friday. Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy said on Friday that the cadres had formally given up violence and joined the mainstream of society.
The surrendered Maoists handed over 24 weapons to the police, which included one INSAS LMG, three AK-47 rifles and five SLR rifles. Also given 733 live cartridges of different calibres. “This surrender reflects a major decline in the organizational strength, morale and leadership credibility of the CPI (Maoist),” the release said.
Police said the Maoists decided to surrender because the CPI (Maoist) leadership was sending members without their consent to unknown and remote areas, often in areas where they did not have basic geographical knowledge and local support. The release also said that after completion of documentation and opening of bank accounts, those who surrender under the relief and rehabilitation policy of the state and centre, will get a total reward of Rs 1.46 crore.
It said that in 2025 alone, 509 underground CPI (Maoist) cadres – including two central committee members, 11 state committee members and three mandal committee secretaries – have surrendered before the Telangana Police, which shows the steady decline of the organisation.
