Anil Kumar Mehta, a farmer from Khojuri village of Araria district, has cultivated papaya in half an acre. He is earning well from this farming. Farmer Anil said that he cultivates papaya on half an acre of land in a season. Where one can earn up to Rs 2 lakh sitting at home. The most important thing is that they do not face any problem in selling the crop and get a good price.
Farmer Anil Kumar told Local 18 that he got information about papaya cultivation from YouTube channels and news. He purchased government saplings under the Chief Minister Horticulture Scheme and got some saplings from Andhra Pradesh. Initially he had to face some diseases, but gradually the situation improved and now he is getting good profits in farming.
Also, Anil Kumar told that there is no insurance system on papaya cultivation in Bihar government, due to which farmers may face problems in case of loss. Where it costs around Rs 50,000 to cultivate papaya in one acre. Where annual income can easily be more than Rs 2 lakh. So if you also want to earn more profit at less cost then papaya farming can be a good option.
