New Delhi. The Indian-made Suzuki Baleno failed in the Tin New Car Assessment Program (LNCAP) crash test. The Latin Safety Rating Agency tested the latest model of this car in which six airbags are provided as standard and it has received a 2-star rating. Although this result is not satisfactory, it is much better than the LNCAP test results of 2021, when the car got a zero-star rating. The models of that time had only two airbags.
Popular Baleno in India
Baleno is a popular premium hatchback in India and is also exported to many countries. In the LNCAP evaluation, it scored 31.75 out of 35, giving a rating of 79.38 percent for adult occupant protection. For child occupant protection, it got 32.08 points out of 49, which is equal to 65.46 percent rating.
pedestrian safety
In the pedestrian safety category, the hatchback scored 23.17 out of 36, giving a rating of 48.28 percent. The safety assist test got a rating of 58.14 percent with 25 points. The vehicle was tested for frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection and electronic stability control (ESC).
Improve Occupant Protection
In its latest version, the Baleno showed significant improvement in occupant protection during crash tests, especially due to the standard side body and curtain airbags. These features improved head protection in a side impact, while chest protection in a side collision was also better than previous results.
Frontal Impact Test
The frontal impact test results found the structure and footwell to be stable, resulting in the same level of safety for both the driver and passenger. Child occupant safety remained strong when rearward-facing child seats were used with ISOFIX mounts, although the lack of a passenger airbag deactivation switch posed a problem for secure installation in the front seat.
