Bhatinda Fall, located just 20 kilometers from Dhanbad city, has become a major center of attraction for tourists these days. The natural waterfall located in Putki-Munidih area is known for its beauty, peaceful environment and exciting views. Bathinda Falls is emerging as a great option to spend some relaxing moments away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Reaching Bathinda Falls is also quite easy and economical. By taking an auto from Dhanbad station, one has to get down near Putki police station, from where one can directly reach Bhatinda Falls by another auto. Overall, a tourist can reach the tourist destination with a budget of around Rs 100. This is the reason why college students, families and picnickers arrive in large numbers.
People come here to have picnics
According to local people, the maximum crowd is seen in Bathinda Falls around New Year. There is a constant flow of picnickers here from 25th December to 15th January. There are three natural ponds among the rocks here. The water first falls into the big pond. Then it overflows and reaches the middle pond and finally the small pond. There are natural pits like deep wells inside every pond, which make this place even more mysterious. Another specialty of Bathinda Falls is the confluence of two rivers. Katari River, which originates from Parasnath mountain and flows from north to south. Via Munidih it reaches Bhatinda Falls. Damodar river comes from the east. These two rivers meet near the fall. When the strong stream of the river hits the rocks and falls from a height of about 10 meters, the view becomes extremely picturesque.
There is a swing in Bathinda Falls
There are different beliefs regarding the construction of Bhatinda Fall. This is completely a gift of nature, while some say that earlier sandstone mining was done here, due to which this fall came into existence. However, its natural beauty still mesmerizes people. Many means of entertainment are also available here. Local resident Basant Mahato said that he has been installing jumping swings and other swings for the last five years. Swings like Mickey Mouse, Tara Machine, Tora-Tora and boat attract both children and adults. The fare for these swings ranges from ₹30 to ₹40. Apart from this, accessible toilets, changing rooms, fountains and special swings for children have been made, which provide a lot of convenience to the tourists.
Entry fee here is Rs 50
Local diver Lucky Bawri said that currently there are about 20 divers present in Bathinda Falls, out of which eight are always active. He says that he has been taking care of this natural heritage since the third generation. Especially in the months of December and January, a large number of people from Bengal and Bihar come here for picnics. Boating is also a big attraction here. Operator Ravi Kumar said that paddle boat facility has been started since last one year. Four people can sit at a time in this boat which lasts for about 25 minutes. A diver is present at all times for safety. Its fee is kept at ₹ 50 per person and ₹ 200 for the entire boat, which is used in the maintenance of the falls.
