Siwan. Continuous efforts are being made by the Agriculture Department to identify the products of the farmers and to connect them with better markets. In this sequence, on the occasion of Farmer’s Day, a two-day agricultural fair cum exhibition and agricultural mechanics fair is being organized in the premises of Agricultural Science Center located at Siwan Headquarters. This agricultural fair cum exhibition will be held on 22nd and 23rd December, while the Agricultural Mechanics Fair will be held on 24th and 25th December.
Farmers will get special information
Local 18 correspondent had a special conversation with Project Director cum District Agriculture Officer Alok Kumar regarding the fair. He said that the main objective of this fair is to provide information about modern agricultural techniques, government schemes, new agricultural equipment, improved seeds and scientific farming to the farmers. Besides, the main objective of this event is to give recognition to the agricultural products produced by the farmers through exhibition.

District Agriculture Officer Alok Kumar said that during the agricultural fair cum exhibition, farmers will exhibit the agricultural products produced by them. These products will be evaluated by a team of experts, in which cash amount will be given to the farmers in the form of first, second, third and consolation prizes. This will increase the enthusiasm of the farmers and they will be motivated towards quality production.
These crops will be included in vegetable category-1
Agricultural products grown by farmers have been divided into different categories. Commonly produced vegetables have been kept in Category-1. This category will include turnip, radish, carrot, beetroot, tomato, brinjal, gourd, pumpkin, bitter gourd, cucumber and other seasonal vegetables. Farmers will be able to get a chance to win prizes by displaying their produce in a better way.
You will get detailed information about the schemes of agriculture departments
Various departments related to agriculture will set up their own stalls in the fair. Through these stalls, farmers will be given detailed information about the agricultural schemes of the Central and State Government. Agriculture officers, agricultural scientists and experts from district level to block level will be present, who will listen to the problems of the farmers and provide solutions to them.
Training will be given in modern farming techniques
Special training sessions will also be organized for farmers to do farming using modern and scientific methods. In these sessions, farmers will be given information on important topics like advanced agricultural technology, crop diversification, soil health management, natural farming, organic farming, crop protection and agricultural mechanization. With this, farmers will be able to increase their income by producing more at less cost.

After this, Agricultural Mechanics Fair will be organized on 24th and 25th December. In this fair, everything from small equipment to big equipment related to agriculture will be sold. Subsidy ranging from 50 to 80 percent
District Agriculture Officer Alok Kumar said that this time 50 to 80 percent subsidy will be given on agricultural equipment. The special thing is that the subsidy amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the farmers. Farmers will pay the full amount of the equipment to the seller in the fair, while the subsidy received on it will be directly transferred to their account. This will eliminate the role of middlemen and farmers will get direct benefits.
Appeal to more and more farmers to participate
The District Agriculture Officer has appealed to all the farmers of the district to participate in this agricultural fair cum exhibition and agricultural mechanics fair in maximum numbers. He said that such events are a better opportunity for farmers to learn new technologies, take advantage of government schemes and increase their income.
