Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Madan on Thursday clarified the ongoing controversy over his alleged comments on Lord Ram, saying that the viral video is “completely edited, AI-generated and fabricated.” In a special conversation with CNN-StuffUnknown, Mitra said that he never made any statement which would suggest that Lord Ram was not a Hindu.
“This is a completely edited AI-generated, fabricated video. I have not said anything like that. All I have said is whether Ram has any title, he is God for us,” he told CNN-StuffUnknown.
What is the controversy?
A political uproar broke out after a purported video surfaced on social media platforms, in which the Kamarhati MLA is seen addressing a public meeting and can be heard making remarks about the religious identity of Lord Ram. In the viral video, he was heard saying, “Ram was a Muslim, not a Hindu.”
The video sparked anger in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused the ruling TMC of repeatedly insulting Hindu beliefs.
