Bilaspur. As soon as winter sets in in Chhattisgarh, the demand for traditional green vegetables increases. Urmila Manikpuri, living in Dhuri Para area of Bilaspur, has been earning her family’s livelihood by selling vegetables for the last several years. The increasing demand for Teevra Bhaji and Chana Bhaji in the cold season has given a good increase in their income. The aroma and taste of these vegetables are attracting a lot of people in the local markets. At the same time, it is also considered very beneficial from health point of view.
Demand for Teevra and Chana Bhaji increases in cold weather
With the onset of winter, the demand for Teevra Bhaji and Chana Bhaji increases in Chhattisgarhi kitchen. Due to its traditional taste and nutritious properties, Chhattisgarhian people eat it with great enthusiasm. This is the reason why this vegetable is being sold in abundance in the markets.
Vegetables are being sold for 80 to 100 rupees per kg.
Urmila Manikpuri tells Local 18 that currently Teevra and Chana Bhaji are being sold at ₹ 80 to ₹ 100 per kg. She easily sells several kilos of vegetables every day. Similarly, dozens of women and small vendors in the city are earning a good amount of money every day by selling vegetables.
Teevra Bhaji and Chana Bhaji are considered a good source of iron, fiber and essential nutrients. Along with giving strength to the body in cold weather, it also increases immunity. This is the reason why people of Chhattisgarh like to include it in their food.
Seasonal vegetables also support employment
