His son Anil Sutar has given this information by issuing a statement. He breathed his last at his home in Noida. Ram Sutar had designed the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity. This statue of Sardar Patel is located on the banks of Narmada in Gujarat.

Son Anil Sutar said in the statement that it is with deep sorrow that I have to inform that my father Ram Vanji Sutar Died at our residence at midnight on 17th December. Ram Sutar was born on 19 February 1925 in Gondur village of Dhule district of Maharashtra. Sutar, attracted towards sculpture since childhood, won a gold medal from JJ School of Art and Architecture, Mumbai.

Ram Sutar’s greatest achievement is designing the world’s tallest statue – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ‘Statue of Unity’ (182 meters high) in Gujarat.
