Dattatreya Hosabale on Surya Namaskar: General Secretary of RSS i.e. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Dattatreya Hosabale has given a big statement. RSS Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) Dattatreya Hosabale said on Wednesday that adopting nature is a part of India’s cultural tradition and practices related to nature worship are not harmful for a person of any religion.
Dattatreya Hosabale said that RSS does not consider any person or community as its enemy and believes in inclusivity for the welfare of the society and the nation. Addressing a ‘Hindu Conference’ at Khorabar Ground in Gorakhpur, Dattatreya Hosabale said that Indian cultural traditions are deeply connected with nature and environmental protection. He said, ‘If Muslims also worship rivers and trees, there is nothing wrong in it. These traditions are related to nature conservation and collective well-being.

Referring to Yoga and Surya Namaskar, Dattatreya Hosabale said that it should not be seen from a narrow religious perspective. He said, ‘Surya Namaskar is a scientific and health-oriented practice. It causes no harm to anyone, and nothing is lost by doing it. What will happen to Muslims by Surya Namaskar? Is it wrong if those offering Namaz do Pranayam? Not there. We will not say that if you do this then leave that puja, leave namaz. We will not say this.

Emphasizing on cultural unity, Dattatreya Hosabale said that Indian culture promotes co-existence and respect for nature beyond religious boundaries. He stressed that RSS believes in mutual respect and harmony among all sections of the society. Speaking on topics like ‘Hindu-Hindutva’, ‘Nation-Nationality’, and ‘India-Indianness’, Dattatreya Hosabale said that nation building is possible only through character building.

Dattatreya Hosabale said, ‘Indian cultural roots are one. The methods of worship may be different, but the religion is one – Sanatan. Religion is the art of living. He said that it is the responsibility of the followers of Sanatan Dharma to maintain human values not only for themselves but for the welfare of humanity across the world. He said, ‘Our ancestors have called Hinduism a human religion. People of any country can follow it. The celebration of International Yoga Day across the world on 21st June is a clear example of this.
