Hazaribagh District AYUSH Officer Dr. Shyamanandan Tiwari told Local 18 Jharkhand that gram greens are very useful from Ayurvedic point of view. Iron, calcium, fiber and many essential vitamins are found in it, which makes the body strong from within in winter. During the cold season, when the digestive system becomes a little weak, gram greens help in improving it.
He further told that gram greens are helpful in removing anemia. The iron present in it works to increase hemoglobin in the body, which reduces weakness and fatigue. Gram greens are considered very beneficial especially for women and elderly people. Consuming it regularly maintains energy in the body.

He further said that the problem of joint pain and body stiffness becomes common in winter. The nutrients present in gram greens help in strengthening bones. It contains good amount of calcium and magnesium, which is beneficial for bones and muscles. In Ayurveda, it is considered to balance Vata dosha.
Gram greens are also very good for the digestive system. The fiber present in it removes the problem of constipation and helps in keeping the intestines clean. People who suffer from gas, indigestion or heavy stomach should definitely eat gram greens in winter.
Gram greens are also very useful in increasing immunity. The risk of cold and viral infection increases during winter season. The antioxidants and vitamins present in gram greens strengthen the body’s immunity, which increases the power to fight diseases.
In Hazaribagh and surrounding areas, gram greens vegetable is prepared in a simple way. It is cooked with garlic, mustard oil and mild spices, due to which its nutrients are preserved.
