Dehradun News: The High Court has upheld the life imprisonment of convicted husband Rajesh Gulati in the Anupama murder case that took place in the capital Dehradun in 2010. Engineer Rajesh Gulati, who returned from America, had murdered his wife and cut her body into 72 pieces. Then those pieces were thrown at different places.
Dehradun. In Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, a software engineer who returned from America had murdered his wife 15 years ago. After the murder, his body was cut into 72 pieces and thrown at different places in the city to destroy the evidence. 15 years after this incident, Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday upheld his life imprisonment.
After murder the body was cut into 72 pieces
According to the prosecution, during a fight on the night of 17 October 2010, Rajesh slapped Anupama. Due to this, Anupama’s head hit the wall and she became unconscious. Fearing that she might regain consciousness and complain, Rajesh murdered her. According to the police, Rajesh later bought an electric saw and a deep freezer, cut the body into 72 pieces, put them in plastic bags and hid them in the freezer. Gradually he kept throwing these pieces in the deserted areas of Dehradun.
High Court kept the sentence intact
In 2017, the Dehradun court convicted Rajesh and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Also imposed a fine of Rs 15 lakh. After which Rajesh Gulati challenged the decision of the lower court in the High Court. After 8 years of hearing, on Wednesday the bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani and Justice Alok Mehra rejected his appeal and upheld the decision of the lower court.
