Kalyan Banerjee Viral Video: Once again the video of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee from the Parliament complex is becoming increasingly viral on social media. Kalyan Banerjee, famous for his dramatic style and sarcastic style, is this time seen joking with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The discussion on the issue of ‘infiltrators’ in the video has sparked a new debate in political circles.
This video has surfaced at a time when the Election Commission is conducting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 12 states of the country. The opposition is continuously alleging that names of legitimate voters are being removed from the voter list by using the word ‘infiltrator’. In this background, this conversation between Kalyan Banerjee and Nitin Gadkari has now become a topic of political discussion.
What is the whole matter of viral video?
The viral clip is from the Parliament complex. Where TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee jokingly asked Nitin Gadkari that of the one crore ‘infiltrators’ that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh talk about, have you ever seen even one? On this question both the leaders start laughing loudly and the people present around them also smile.
How was the conversation between the two leaders?
In the video, Kalyan Banerjee gestures by raising both his hands and says that he will throw everyone out. Then, pointing his finger, he asked Gadkari, ‘Did you get even one?’ In response, Gadkari says smilingly, ‘Will introduce you sometime.’ After this, Kalyan Banerjee holds their hand and whispers something, on which both of them laugh out loud.
Joke made on hydrogen car too
After taking a few steps forward, Nitin Gadkari shows his hydrogen-powered car to Kalyan Banerjee. Banerjee takes a dig at this too and says, ‘What will they do with so many vehicles? Send one or two to us also, the same ones that are given to the servants. This dialogue makes the video more light-hearted.
Serious allegations of opposition regarding SIR
The opposition’s allegation behind the laughter is very serious. Opposition parties say that in the name of SIR, names of a large number of people from minority, border and poor areas are being removed from the voter list. The government claims the number of infiltrators, but does not yet clarify how many illegal immigrants have actually been identified.
Image from ‘Kit-Kit-Kit’ to Parliament
This is not the first time that Kalyan Banerjee has come into discussion. His ‘chu-kit-kit’ satire on the slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ in the Lok Sabha, his imitation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his behavior during the Parliament security breach have been in controversies earlier also. His supporters call it outspokenness, while BJP considers it against parliamentary dignity.
Why is this video important?
This video shows that even amidst the conflict in parliamentary politics, communication and lightness exists between the leaders at the personal level. But at the same time it also exposes the opposition’s strategy of demanding answers from the government on a sensitive issue like ‘infiltrator’.
