A big regulatory change is coming for NPS investors. Now the lock-in period of 5 years is being abolished for Non-Government NPS Subscribers, which will provide them great relief.
Under the new rules, investors will be able to withdraw up to 80% of their NPS corpus. If the corpus is up to ₹ 8 lakh then 100% amount can be withdrawn, whereas if it is more than ₹ 12 lakh then only 20% amount will be required to be deposited in Annuity. This will make more liquid cash available at retirement.
Investors will be able to remain in NPS till the age of 85 years. General Exit will be possible after 15 years of membership or at the age of 60 years. The rules of Government Employees will remain the same as before.
