New Delhi. A high level meeting related to Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals was held on Wednesday at the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCC) Headquarters. In which the existing ongoing works were reviewed and instructions were given to start the ready terminals soon and complete the pending works on priority.
This meeting was called to review the status of the terminals being built under the Prime Minister Gati Shakti National Master Plan. The meeting was co-chaired by Director (Operations and Business Development) Shobhit Bhatnagar and Director (Infrastructure) Anurag Sharma. During this, GGM (Business Development and Analytics) S.P. Verma presented reports of various projects.
Special discussion was held in the meeting on the status of major Gati Shakti terminals like Sakhun, Dharuhera and Savaria. Instructions were given that the terminals whose construction has been completed or is in the final stages, should be commissioned soon, so that operations can be started there soon.
Officials stressed that the commissioning of these terminals will lead to better integration between rail and road networks, which will reduce both logistics time and cost. This will strengthen the goals of Make in India and self-reliant India in the country. Instructions were given to resolve any technical, administrative or land related problem immediately with the cooperation of state governments and central agencies.
It was agreed in the meeting that operations should be started soon at the ready terminals to ensure uninterrupted freight movement from ports to industrial clusters and markets. Also, new stations and loading points should be developed in areas where new facilities are needed.
Terminal developers, logistics operators and leading institutions also participated in the meeting. Officials from Noida, Jaipur, Ajmer, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Ambala units also participated online. Officials said that with the early opening of Gati Shakti cargo terminals, freight transportation will become faster, safer and cheaper and India’s logistics network will reach world class level.
