Muzaffarpur: New Muzaffarpur Junction will be constructed in Chakbhikkhi village under Maniyari Panchayat of Kudhni block. It will be developed as a modern rail terminal by Sonpur Railway Division. On Tuesday, a team of officials from eight departments of Sonpur division inspected the proposed site. Took stock of the requirements and constraints related to construction.
This problem came to light during in-depth study?
During the inspection, it came to light that due to 132 KVA electric poles of Power Grid in Kafen area, there may be technical difficulties in laying the railway line. To solve this problem, a proposal will be sent by Sonpur Railway Division to Power Grid Kafen, so that it can be resolved in time. In this survey process which lasted from 12 noon to 3 pm, the team made an in-depth study of the geographical location of the site, the access road and the surrounding area.
A detailed plan has been prepared for the construction of New Muzaffarpur Station. Two platform lines will be constructed in the proposed terminal. Along with this, shed, two inspection lines and three sick lines will be built for the convenience of passengers. Apart from this, a separate line will also be developed for a washing pit without shed. Provision for six stabling lines has also been made in the new terminal, which will facilitate the stopping and running of trains.
It is noteworthy that New Muzaffarpur station is being developed as a major rail terminal by Sonpur Railway Division. Earlier, an agency of Gujarat had conducted a survey and suggested two possible places, out of which Chakbhikkhi was considered suitable. During the site inspection, suggestions were also taken from the villagers of Chakbhikkhi village. The villagers seemed excited about this project and described it as important for the development of the area.
With the construction of New Muzaffarpur Station, the load of Muzaffarpur Junction will reduce to a great extent. At present, about 85 mail-express trains, more than two dozen passenger trains and equal number of goods trains operate from Muzaffarpur Junction. From September 1, Muzaffarpur station has come under Samastipur Railway Division, while a large part of the district is still under Sonpur Railway Division. A large population of Ramdayalu Nagar, Turki and Kudhani depends on trains.
However, some pucca and semi-pucca houses are also likely to come under the scope of this project. Will assess its social impact. After this a suitable solution will be found. It is known that a new bypass railway line will also be laid between Türkiye and Silaut, New Muzaffarpur station will be developed on this section.
