Bihar IPL Cricketers: Three more cricketers from Bihar will be seen playing in the new season of IPL next year. These include Sarthak Ranjan, Saqib Hussain and Mohammad Izhar. Many cricketers born in Bihar or associated with Bihar have played in the IPL before. Ishan Kishan was born in Patna, but due to Bihar Cricket Association not getting recognition, he had to play cricket from Jharkhand. In almost 10 years of his career, Ishan Kishan has played about 200 T20 matches, out of which more than 30 matches have been for India. He has won the IPL title twice with Mumbai Indians. For Mumbai, he scored more than 400 runs in three seasons. Ishan Kishan was bought for the first time in IPL in 2016 by Gujarat Lions at a base price of Rs 35 lakh. In the mega auction of IPL 2025, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 11.25 crore.
At the age of just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history in T20 cricket. Playing for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur in IPL 2025, he played a explosive inning of 101 runs in 38 balls. His century came in just 35 balls. This was the second fastest century in IPL history. Vaibhav had made many records in his name in this innings. Earlier, he had also created history in the IPL 2025 auction. At the age of just 13, he became the youngest player to get an IPL contract. Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.1 crore.
By the way, Dhoni is from Jharkhand. But he was born in Bihar before Jharkhand was formed. Therefore, people of both the states of Bihar and Jharkhand consider him as their cricketer. MS Dhoni has won three ICC titles for India. But he has a special relationship with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL. He took the team to the finals 10 times in the first 14 IPL seasons and won a total of 5 titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Under his captaincy, CSK reached the playoffs 12 times. Dhoni was bought by CSK in the first IPL auction held in 2008. Except for a few matches in 2022, he was always the captain of the team. No player has captained a team for so long in the IPL. Dhoni played for Rising Pune Supergiants during the ban on CSK in 2016 and 2017.

Saurabh Tiwari is a resident of Bihar. But he played cricket for Jharkhand.

But his performance there was poor. He could score only one half-century in 47 matches. In 2014, he was out of IPL due to shoulder injury. Bihar’s Purnia MP Pappu Yadav’s son Sarthak Ranjan was also bid in the IPL auction. Sarthak, known for his explosive batting, was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. Sarthak Ranjan plays for Delhi in domestic cricket. Recently, in the Delhi Premier League 2025, he performed brilliantly and scored a century in 58 balls. In this tournament he scored a total of 448 runs.
Saqib Hussain is a right-arm fast bowler and represents Bihar in domestic cricket. He has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL for Rs 30 lakh. Saqib bowls with the new ball for the Bihar team. He is known for his fast pace, bounce and ability to trouble the batsmen. On the basis of his consistently good performance in domestic cricket, he has got a place in IPL.
Mohammad Izhar is a right-arm fast bowler and plays for Bihar in domestic cricket. He was bought by Mumbai Indians in IPL for Rs 30 lakh. He bowled brilliantly in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Seeing his speed and skill, he is being considered an emerging player.
