Wheat Cultivation Tips: In the wheat crop, if there are voids visible at various places in the fields or the concentration of plants is weak, then it can be rectified in time. After the first irrigation, new shoots emerge by light weeding and use of Nano DAP. Besides, farmers can also do gap filling after irrigation.
Saharanpur: The appropriate time for sowing of wheat in western Uttar Pradesh is generally considered to be between 25 October to 15 November, because during this period the temperature and soil moisture remain favorable for good germination of the crop. Sowing on time improves the growth of plants and also gives higher yield, whereas sowing done after 25th November is considered as late sowing, which can adversely affect the production. However, many farmers sow till the last week of December and the first week of January.
The farmers who had sown the wheat crop at the right time are now getting their first irrigation in their crop. While doing the first irrigation, farmers should keep in mind that if the accumulation of wheat in their field is less then they should do gap filling now, by doing gap filling there will be sufficient number of wheat plants in the field. Due to which the production will be complete, if the farmers do not fill the gap then the production may also decline. But even while filling the gap, farmers need to take precautions.
Has the accumulation of wheat fields reduced?
Dr. I.K., in-charge and professor of Agricultural Science Center. Kushwaha told Local 18 that wheat is usually sown by November, although many farmers delay sowing till December. If the farmer has sown with a super seeder or seed drill and the accumulation of wheat in the field is less, then there is no need to panic. In places where accumulation is less and empty space is visible in the field, wheat seeds of the same variety can be soaked and sown again.
Do these measures within 35 days
To increase the accumulation, farmers should spray Nano DAP at the rate of 5 ml per liter of water, this spraying should be done when the sun comes out. Along with this, spray bentonite sulfur in the field at the rate of about 1 to 1.5 kg per bigha. It is important to adopt these measures within 35 to 40 days of wheat harvesting. Nano DAP and bentonite sulfur should be used as soon as the first irrigation is applied to the wheat crop. With these measures, more shoots appear in wheat, the field gets filled well and if the accumulation still seems less then spraying once again after 35 days increases the number of plants.
