Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test: Registration for Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test i.e. HTET 2026 has started. Haryana Board of School Education has announced its dates. Those passing this examination will be eligible to become teachers in schools of Haryana. Haryana HTET will be held in two shifts on 17 and 18 January 2026.
Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test: There is big news for all the candidates preparing to become primary, TGT or PGT teachers in Haryana. Haryana Board of School Education i.e. HBSE has announced the dates of Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test i.e. HTET 2026. The examination will be held in two shifts on 17 and 18 January 2026. The registration process has started online. Applications will run from December 2025 to January 2026. The board has not yet announced the last date, but it is expected to be by January. Therefore, the board has advised all the candidates to keep checking the official website regularly so that no updates are missed. Passing this examination opens the way to become a teacher in government schools of Haryana.
Why is the examination conducted in three levels?
HTET exam is conducted at three different levels so that there is a right test for every class teacher. The first level is for Primary Teachers i.e. PRT who teach classes 1 to 5. The second level is for Trend Graduate Teacher i.e. TGT who teaches classes 6 to 8. The third level is for Post Graduate Teacher i.e. PGT who teaches from class 9 to 12. The paper for each level is different, so it is important to choose the right level and apply.
Who can apply?
Different qualifications have been kept for each level so that only the right candidates become teachers. For PRT, the candidate must have passed 12th and have done Diploma in Education or equivalent course. For TGT, it is mandatory to have a graduate degree i.e. Graduation and B.Ed. For PGT, post graduation i.e. PG and B.Ed is necessary. This is the minimum qualification. There is some relaxation for those with reservation. Check the complete details in the notification.
