Dhanbad: A grand three-day Paush Parban fair is being organized from 19th December to 21st December in the premises of Lindsay Club Library located in Dhanbad. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the Bengali society regarding this fair, because the Bengali community waits for this traditional fair for the last whole year. This fair is not only a festival of food, but also a living platform of Bengali culture, tradition and folk arts.
Organizers said that the main objective of Paush Parban Fair is to keep Bengali traditions alive and connect the new generation with its cultural heritage. In the fair, stalls of special dishes of traditional food related to Bengal are set up. Along with this, stalls of sarees, clothes, handicrafts and toys made from Bengal clay also remain the center of attraction. This fair gives an opportunity to the people of Dhanbad to see and feel the Bengali culture closely.
The role of women associated with the club is considered most important in this fair. The women of the club have been busy preparing for the Paush Parban fair for the last one year. The special thing is that this three-day fair attracts women especially. Women prepare special dishes in the traditional manner in their homes and present them through stalls in the fair and give the people of Dhanbad a chance to taste pure Bengali food.
According to the organizing committee, this time a total of 20 stalls from different areas of Bengal and Dhanbad will be set up in the fair. These include names like Paushe Hullor, Peetha Ghar, Aapar Bangla, Khai Khai, Senco, Mahua Boutique, Matis Fashion and Delicious Bengali Mishti. Pitha-Puli, Patishapta, dishes made from coconut and jaggery, traditional sweets and many unique items of local taste will be available at these stalls.
Organizers said that this time also a special souvenir will be released on the occasion of Paush Parban fair being organized continuously since 2019. This souvenir will be a medium to preserve Bengali culture, history and activities of the club.
