Dehradun: The weather has remained dry in Uttarakhand for the last few days, due to which there is bright sunshine during the day and the feeling of cold is reducing, but in the morning and evening most areas of the state are experiencing severe cold, due to which there is a significant difference in the maximum and minimum temperatures. While frost is troubling the hilly districts, light fog has also started appearing in the morning and evening in the plain areas.
Weather will change due to western disturbance
According to the Meteorological Department, the entire North India is currently in the grip of severe cold. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has expressed the possibility of an important change in Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of a weak western disturbance in the western Himalayan region from the night of 17th December. Due to the effect of this seasonal system, changes will be seen in the weather of Uttarakhand.
Effect of disturbance will be visible on 21st December
Scientists of the Meteorological Department estimate that the direct and clear impact of this weak western disturbance will be seen in Uttarakhand on December 21. On this day, the weather will change in the high hilly districts of the state and there is a possibility of very light rain or snowfall at some places.
Snowfall alert in these districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert specifically for four districts – Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh. There is a possibility of light snowfall in places at altitudes of 3500 meters and above in these districts. At the same time, there is a possibility of very light rain in the lower and middle altitude areas of these districts, which can further increase the cold.
Possibility of increase in cold in the state
After the passing of western disturbance, the minimum temperature usually drops further, due to which the cold increases. After rain/snow on December 21, cold wave like conditions may once again occur in the state. The Meteorological Department has advised local residents and tourists to take necessary precautions keeping in mind the weather patterns.
According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, today the weather is likely to be dry in all the districts of Uttarakhand, while there is a possibility of fog in the plain areas of the state, especially in the plain districts like Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar.
