Barabanki News: If farmers want to earn more profits at less cost, then cultivation of green vegetables will prove beneficial for them. Farmers are showing interest in vegetable cultivation because of getting many times more benefits in less cost. In such a situation, cultivation of crops like lettuce is proving to be a profitable deal for the farmers.
Barabanki: In today’s time, farming has also taken the form of a business. Farmers are earning profits worth lakhs of rupees from the cultivation of some special crops, because due to the increasing demand and good prices of green vegetables, farmers are cultivating them on a large scale. Farmers are showing interest in vegetable cultivation because of getting many times more benefits in less cost. In such a situation, cultivation of crops like lettuce is proving to be a profitable deal for the farmers.
This young farmer of the district is getting good profit in terms of cost by cultivating lettuce, for which he has been cultivating lettuce for two years. Young farmer Anuj, resident of Sahelia village of Barabanki district, started the cultivation of lettuce as compared to other crops, in which he got good profits. Today, he is earning a profit of Rs 60 to 70 thousand from one crop by cultivating lettuce in about two bighas.
Crop ready in less time
Farmer Anuj Kumar, who is cultivating lettuce, told Local 18 that although I mostly cultivate vegetables, I have been cultivating lettuce for two years because its demand is high in big hotels and restaurants. Because of this it goes for a very good rate. In this farming the cost is less and the profit is much higher. At present, I have lettuce grown in two bighas, which is of two varieties, the cost of which is around 8 to 10 thousand rupees per one bigha. The profit on one crop is around Rs 60 to 70 thousand and this crop is ready in a short time.
plowing two-three times
The farmer told that it is very easy to cultivate. First the field is plowed two-three times, then cow dung is sprinkled on it and then the field is leveled and seeds of lettuce are sown. When the plant emerges, it has to be irrigated. Then the crop is ready just 40 to 45 days after sowing it.
