Sitamarhi News: District Magistrate Richie Pandey himself was seen on the road talking to the drivers. Appealed to all drivers including women to wear helmets, wear seat belts, follow speed limits and respect traffic signals.
A unique awareness campaign regarding road safety was conducted by the district administration at the main Lalu Yadav Chowk of Sitamarhi city. In this campaign led by District Magistrate Richie Pandey, a beautiful confluence of human sensitivity with strictness towards rules was seen, which attracted the attention of the pedestrians and drivers.
During the campaign, two-wheeler drivers were stopped and informed about traffic rules. Free helmets were distributed with an appeal to follow the rules. The aim of this initiative is not to punish drivers, but to ensure safety of their lives by making them aware of safe travel.
The special thing is that the administration has taken the help of flowers for creating awareness. The drivers were given rose flowers and given a message to wear helmets and follow the rules. People accepted this positive and gentle approach wholeheartedly and appreciated the campaign.

Additional Collector Disaster Management Brijkishore Pandey, District Transport Officer Prashant Kumar, Motor Vehicle Inspector and many senior officials were present in the campaign. Active participation of officers made the campaign effective and increased confidence in the administration among the common people.
Information about the fines imposed for violation of traffic rules was also given by the Motor Vehicle Inspector. There was a provision of a fine of ₹ 1000 for not wearing a helmet and up to ₹ 5000 for not wearing it despite having a helmet, so that people could understand the seriousness of the rules.
The DM appealed to all the citizens to become responsible citizens and follow the traffic rules honestly. The message given by DM through flowers and helmet left a positive message among the common people and the campaign got widespread support.
