Shimla News: Geological Survey of India submitted a report to Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on the incident of crater in Bhattakufar, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, pipe leakage has been said to be the main reason. Shimla. The team of Geological Survey of India has today submitted its report to Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on the incident of roadside crater in Bhattakufar, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. It has been told in this report that on November 22, 2025, a 2.2 meter long, 1.5 meter wide and 4 meter deep pit was surveyed. It is noteworthy that due to landslide here, the tires of a bus got stuck and a schoolgirl was trapped in a pit on the stairs. However, he was not injured.
According to the report, this incident happened due to leakage of two water pipes. Apart from this, due to vibration of tunnel construction and other secondary reasons, the ground was sinking, a suggestion was given in the report to completely stop blasting for tunnel construction. Apart from this, there is no restriction on working manually.
DC has sought a report on the entire matter from the representatives of the company constructing the tunnel, in which a survey was conducted when the construction work of the tunnel started in March 2024. Provide all the records regarding this. Along with this, instructions were also given to provide information about what correspondence was done with the administration during the construction work and what steps were taken and when to implement the suggestions.
The DC said that the priority of the administration is to protect the life of the common man and his property. During the construction work of the four lane, cracks have appeared in the houses of the people built in the area falling within the tunnel. The district administration team has itself inspected this matter. However, a report on the damage to such houses will be prepared by the company doing the construction work. The administration will provide all possible assistance to get them compensation.
Report sought from Jal Shakti Department
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Geological Survey of India has submitted its report and in it, leakage of pipes has been cited as the main reason for the incident. Jal Shakti Department has immediately repaired those pipes. Actually there was a reducer there, due to which leakage was occurring. A report has been sought from the Jal Shakti Department as to where and whose pipes are under the ground in the area affected by tunnel construction. Additional District Magistrate Protocol Jyoti Rana, District Revenue Officer Sumedh Sharma and other officers were present in this meeting.
