The US, turning its crackdown on drug trafficking into a military war, attacked three boats in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing 8 people. There have been 95 deaths so far under ‘Operation Southern Spear’. Serious questions are being raised in the US Congress on these attacks and the pressure on Venezuela has intensified.
How many people have died so far?
Based on intelligence information, it was claimed that these boats were being operated on behalf of designated terrorist organizations and were involved in drug smuggling. These attacks have been described as part of ‘Operation Southern Spear’. So far 95 people have died under this campaign. Earlier on December 4, a suspected drug boat was attacked in the eastern Pacific Ocean, in which four people were killed. The Trump administration argues that this entire campaign is necessary to stop the supply of deadly drugs in America.
