Chawal ka Pitha Recipe: In Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, rice pitha is a special dish on Makar Sankranti, which is made in sweet or salty form with the filling of rice flour and gram dal.

Along with this, especially in Jharkhand, people make rice pitha at home on the day of Makar Sankranti. It is made in both sweet and salty form. It is easy to make it at home. People of all ages like it very much.

Some ingredients are required to make rice pitha. Like soaked gram dal. Garlic, rice flour, red chilli powder, garam masala, dry mango powder, piece ginger, green chilli, salt, chaat masala, mustard, refined oil, white sesame, whole red chilli, water etc.
First of all, cook rice and pulses in separate vessels for 5 to 6 hours. After that let it dry in a cloth. When it dries, grind it coarsely in a mixer. Your rice flour will be ready. Mix half a spoon of salt in rice flour and knead a soft dough with warm water.
Make a paste by grinding soaked chana dal coarsely with ginger, garlic and green chillies in a mixer. Place the chana dal mixture in a bowl and prepare the stuffing by adding red chilli powder and dry mango powder to it. Take a ball of dough, roll it out, fill it with gram dal mixture, fold it in the shape of Gujiya and stick it.
Place water in a vessel for boiling and once the water boils, add Gujhiya and cover and cook for 15 minutes. Instead of boiling pitha in water, you can also cook it in steam. When the pitha is cooked well, take it out in a plate, cool it and cut it with a knife.
Now keep oil in a pan to heat. Add mustard, cumin, whole red chilli and sesame seeds in oil and crackle. Now add the pitha and fry it well and add some garam masala and chaat masala on top and turn off the flame. Now your pitha is ready. You can also make sweets. Add dry fruits and jaggery to it. However, serve spicy pitha with green coriander, chilli and tomato chutney.
