Kochi. Another indigenous force is going to be added to the Indian Navy fleet on 16 December 2025. The Navy’s first indigenous ‘Diving Support Craft’ (DSC A20) will be formally commissioned in a grand ceremony held at Kochi Naval Base. This ship is a big symbol of the success of ‘Self-reliant India’ mission. With its inclusion, the Navy’s ability to conduct underwater operations will increase manifold. navy
According to officials, this commissioning ceremony has been organized under the Southern Naval Command. Chief of Staff Officer of Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena will attend the program as the chief guest. Along with him, many other senior officers of the Navy will also witness this historic moment. All preparations regarding the program have been completed at Kochi Naval Base.
What is the function of DSC A20? The induction of DSC A20 into the Navy will provide a new and important operational capability.
*Diving Operations: This ship has been specially designed for deep sea diving missions.
* Underwater Support: It will be used in repair, maintenance and relief operations of underwater ships.
* Rescue Mission: In case of any accident, this ship will play an important role in the rescue operation.
