Ginger is an important part of Indian kitchen. Be it tea or vegetable, it is used for both taste and health. Ginger is also rich in medicinal properties. This is the reason why people have now started paying attention towards growing it at home. The good thing is that ginger can be easily grown in a pot or in a small space. If you also want fresh and chemical-free ginger at your home, then follow this easy method and grow the ginger plant in a pot.
To grow ginger, first of all choose seed ginger i.e. thick and fresh bunch. It should have light buds i.e. eyes. This is the same part from which new shoots emerge. While bringing ginger from the market, keep in mind that it should not be dry or rotten.
Ginger likes loose and fertile soil. Fill the pot by mixing soil, cow dung manure and sand in equal quantities. The pot should be at least 12 inches deep so that the ginger buds can develop easily.

Cut the selected piece of ginger into small pieces. Each piece must have at least one bud. Now plant them by pressing them into the soil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches and cover them with light soil on top.
Ginger does not need much water, but the soil should remain moist. Keep the pot in a shady place, because strong sunlight affects the growth of ginger. Keep adding organic fertilizers to the soil from time to time.
Ginger crop is ready after 7 to 8 months. When the leaves of the plant turn yellow and start drying, understand that the time has come to dig up the ginger. After this, slowly remove the soil from the pot and take out fresh ginger.
