New Delhi. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday and had a detailed discussion on the progress, expansion and new investment proposals of the projects operated and proposed by the Tata Group in the state. In this meeting, consensus was reached on long-term cooperation in various sectors including Artificial Intelligence (AI), IT, Electronics, Defense Manufacturing, Energy, Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicles (EV), Tourism, Skill Development and Digital Economy.
The Chief Minister said that the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to providing stable policy, transparent system and favorable business environment to investors. He expressed confidence that this multidimensional collaboration with the Tata Group will take the state’s economy, employment generation and technological self-reliance to new heights. This meeting between the Chief Minister and the Chairman of Tata Sons is important towards the resolution of making Uttar Pradesh a 1,000 billion dollar economy.
AI city will be built in Lucknow
During the meeting, Chandrasekaran proposed to develop ‘AI City’ in Lucknow. This project will play an important role in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a global center in the field of artificial intelligence. There was also discussion on the progress of work related to the establishment of ‘Centre of Excellence’ being built in Gorakhpur with an investment of Rs 48 crore. With its establishment, especially the youth of Purvanchal region will get advanced technical training and opportunities.
Big preparation for youth also
Tata Group said that through the MoU with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, youth will be trained in areas like AI, cyber security, data science, 3D printing, drones and space technology. This initiative will be helpful in skill development and creating industry ready workforce in the state. Chandrasekaran also discussed the establishment of Global Capacity Center (GCC) in UP. Besides, agreement was also reached on the expansion of Lucknow, Noida and Varanasi units of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
UP TCS will have double the number of employees
Tata Sons Chairman’s proposal to increase the workforce deployed at TCS’s Lucknow and Noida campus from 16,000 to 30,000 will provide new strength to the state’s ‘digital talent pool’. In view of Uttar Pradesh’s rapidly growing potential in the field of electronics manufacturing, the Tata Group expressed its desire to increase investment in manufacturing of mobile devices, electronic components and other ‘hi-tech’ products. Along with this, it was also agreed to expand cooperation and investment in the manufacturing of new models of electric buses, EVs and other vehicles.
Emphasis on increasing tourism of UP
Tata Group proposed to increase investment for manufacturing of drones, missiles and defense vehicles in various defense industrial nodes of the state including Jhansi. Tata Group assured full cooperation in the defense priorities of the state as per the vision of the Chief Minister. Keeping in mind the rapid expansion of global and domestic tourism in Uttar Pradesh, the Chairman of Tata Sons, during the meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, shared information regarding the expansion of the group’s operated and proposed hotel chain in Uttar Pradesh.
Company has big plan in Ayodhya also
Special emphasis was laid on completing the first phase of construction work of the proposed ‘Museum of Temple’ project in Ayodhya in collaboration with Tata Group by January 2027. State-of-the-art technology based displays are being developed in this museum, which will be a special attraction for tourists coming from India and abroad. During the meeting, Chandrasekaran said that Tata Motors is expanding the manufacturing of electric vehicles (EV) in the state and work is also in progress on the development of new models of EV. Along with this, he also shared information about major initiatives of Tata Group related to energy infrastructure and industrial development.
