Winter Bathing Tips: Bathing with hot water is considered very good for health in winter, which strengthens our blood circulation and the rivers of the body, but when hot water is consumed on the upper part of the body like the head, then hot water also causes many types of harm. Let us know what the doctor has to say on this and what is written in the scriptures?
Saharanpur: Bathing is an important part of our life, which keeps our body neat and clean. Where by bathing our body, our body remains protected from many types of diseases. Bathing with cold and hot water not only protects the body from many diseases but also causes some harm. Although it is generally seen that the body can be bathed with both hot and cold water, but in the winter season it is mostly seen that people consume hot water to avoid cold.
Some people feel very cold, so they bathe with hot water throughout the winter, while some people like to bathe with cold water even in the winter season. Bathing with hot water is considered very good for health in winter, which strengthens our blood circulation and the rivers of the body, but when hot water is poured from the upper part of the body, then hot water also causes many types of harm. First of all, it can weaken the roots of our hair and increase the problem of dandruff in the head. Not only this, our eyesight may also decrease. Therefore, in Ayurveda, during winter, one should wash hair from the head down with hot water and cold water.
These are the disadvantages and advantages of bathing with hot water.
Dr. Harsh, BAMS, MD from Ayurvedic Hospital, while talking to Local 18, said that both cold water and hot water can be consumed for bathing, but some people specifically use cold water for bathing from the beginning, while some take bath with hot water, but according to the scriptures, Acharya Vagbhat has clearly said in Ashtanga Hridaya that warm (hot) water will harm the lower body. Parishek (bath) of the body (below the neck) increases strength. If the head is washed with the same (hot water) i.e. the head is washed with hot water, then it reduces the strength of hair and eyes.
What is written in the scriptures?
According to the scriptures, in winter we should bathe the lower part of the body with hot water and the upper part with cold water. If we bathe the lower part of the body with hot water, the benefit is that our body gets strengthened, the nerves of our body get strengthened, the blood circulation of our body is good and there is no problem of any kind of blood circulation in our body.
On the other hand, if we bathe the head or upper part with hot water, can there be any harm? On this, Acharya Wagbhat explains that if you bathe your head with hot water then the roots of the hair on your head become weak, there may be a problem of dandruff in the hair and if a person continuously washes his head with hot water then his eyesight may also get reduced. Therefore the Acharyas have said that the upper part of the body should be bathed with cold water and the lower part of the body should be bathed with hot water.
