Agriculture expert Sanjay Yadav told Local 18 that Sarai or Sal tree is completely natural. It is not planted in any way. It grows spontaneously in forests and plays an important role in environmental protection. Tree becoming hollow from inside due to borer insect
According to Sanjay Yadav, the outbreak of an insect called borer is being seen in Sal trees for some time. This insect makes holes in the tree trunk and weakens it from within. Due to the effects of insects, the tree gradually dries up and eventually has to be cut. Its maximum impact is being seen in Mainpat area of Surguja district, where a large number of Sal trees are being affected.

Regarding pest control, the agricultural expert said that the trees where symptoms of borer or termites are visible, should be immediately coated with Bodo paste. Also, by spraying insecticides and Bodo paste in the soil around the tree, effective control of both termites and borers can be achieved.
