But, here also UDF has increased its seats. LDF has suffered its biggest defeat in Thiruvananthapuram. Here his rule of 45 years has ended.

The party won 50 out of 101 seats in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, one short of the majority. With this, there is a possibility of BJP getting the post of mayor for the first time in Kerala. 64-year-old retired DGP R Sreelekha, a woman IPS officer of the state, is being considered a strong contender for the post of Mayor. Sreelekha has won from Shasthamangalam ward.

Why doesn’t BJP get a big victory?

LDF has won only one seat and BJP has won one. BJP leader Suresh Gopi was elected from Thrissur Lok Sabha seat. As far as vote percentage is concerned, UDF got 45.21 percent votes whereas LDF vote percentage came down to 33.60 percent. On the other hand, the vote percentage of BJP led NDA increased to 19.24 percent.

Is BJP continuously getting stronger?

The answer to this question is yes. If we look at the vote percentage of the last few elections, it shows that BJP is getting stronger in the state. Its vote percentage is increasing. But, it has not yet reached a position in Kerala that it can plan to form a government in the near future. In fact, the answer from Kerala is quite different from BJP states like UP, MP, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar. The population here is well educated. The government system here is probably in the best condition in the country. Kerala’s health sector competes with European countries. On the other hand, Islam of Kerala is also different from Islam of North India. Islam arrived in Kerala through Arab trade, whereas the influence of Mughals is more in the Islam of North India. In such a situation, there is no such division or dispute between Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities in the society of Kerala as there is in North India. In such a situation, Kerala’s nationalism is of a different kind. He has made good progress in the fields of education and health.
