Mumbai. Artificial Intelligence is now being used to deal with cyber crime in Maharashtra. During the Microsoft AI Tour held in Mumbai, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella launched the MahaCrimeOS AI platform in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This new AI system will help the police in investigating more quickly, accurately and effectively through technology.
AI gives new strength to policing
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government aims to use ‘responsible and ethical AI for the public good’. According to him, AI not only increases the speed of work but also makes the lives of citizens easier. He said that this partnership between the government and Microsoft started with solving the complex challenges of cyber crime, but its scope will be even bigger in the future.
What is MahaCrimeOS AI platform?
MahaCrimeOS AI is a modern AI and cloud based platform, developed by CyberEye in collaboration with MARVEL and Microsoft India Development Centre, a special unit of the Government of Maharashtra. This platform is based on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and has been specially designed for cyber crime investigation. Currently it is live in 23 police stations of Nagpur.
How will this AI system work?
This AI platform will help police officers at every level from case registration to investigation. It includes features like automated workflow, multi-language data extraction and legal assistance. This will reduce manual work and officers will be able to focus more on serious matters. It will now be easier to analyze digital evidence and link cases together.
Preparations for expansion across the state
Chief Minister Fadnavis has proposed that MahaCrimeOS AI be implemented in all the 1,100 police stations of Maharashtra. With this, reporting and investigation of cyber crime will be done in a uniform and digital manner across the state. AI based system will not only save time but will also improve the quality of investigation.
Microsoft and police officials’ reaction
Microsoft India President Puneet Chandhok said that AI is changing the future of public safety and MahaCrimeOS will become a new standard for it. Meanwhile, MARVEL CEO and Nagpur Rural SP Harsh Poddar called it a game-changer in the fight against cyber crime. According to CyberEye CEO Ram Ganesh, this platform will also enable policemen deployed in remote areas to solve complex cyber cases easily.
