PIB Fact Check: A fake news going viral on the instant messaging platform WhatsApp has created a stir among retired government employees. It is being claimed that under the Finance Act 2025, retired employees will stop getting the benefits of dearness allowance i.e. DA hike and future pay commission, which will affect lakhs of pensioners. However, the Central Government’s press agency Press Information Bureau (PIB) has completely rejected this claim and termed it ‘fake’. According to PIB, this message is being forwarded again and again, but there is no truth in it.
It has been clearly stated in the tweet of PIB Fact Check that this rumor being spread in the name of Finance Act 2025 is baseless.
PIB has further stated that Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 has been amended, but this amendment relates only to a special situation. The amended rule states that if an employee employed in a Public Sector Company (PSU) is dismissed due to indiscipline or misconduct, his pension or retirement benefits can be cancelled. This does not mean that the benefits of DA increase or pay commission have been stopped for ordinary retired employees.
