Justice GR Swaminathan: SP Vaid criticized the opposition impeachment of Justice GR Swaminathan. He raised questions on saving Hindu traditions and expressed hope that the proposal would be rejected by the Parliament. SP Vaid wrote that instead of respecting our cultural heritage, opposition parties are demanding his impeachment. Is it now a punishable offense to stand up for Hindu traditions on one’s own land?
Jammu and Kashmir. Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP Shesh Paul Vaid (SP Vaid) has strongly criticized the impeachment of Justice GR Swaminathan by the opposition parties and has raised the question whether now standing for Hindu traditions on one’s own land is a punishable crime? SP Vaid shared a video on social media platform ‘X’ and said that about 100 MPs of India Alliance have given a letter to the Speaker to bring impeachment against Justice GR Swaminathan.
He said that Madras High Court judge Justice GR Swaminathan had given the verdict on the centuries-old tradition in the Madurai temple, and the opposition MPs are impeaching him, while the whole of India knows that when the house of a Delhi High Court judge caught fire and crores of rupees were recovered.
The former DGP raised the question that the opposition did not raise any voice against him. An impeachment motion is being brought after giving a verdict in the case of Justice GR Swaminathan. It has not happened in the history of India that an impeachment motion has to be brought against a judge for giving a verdict.
He said that the judge’s decision can be taken to the Supreme Court. Bringing an impeachment motion against a judge for doing his duty, the whole of India is watching this kind of role. This is not good for democracy. I am confident that the Parliament of India will reject it.
While sharing the video, the former DGP wrote in the caption that the attack by the opposition parties on Justice GR Swaminathan for saving the old Hindu tradition is very bad, but when crores of rupees were found after the fire in the house of Justice Yashwant Verma, where was this anger? He wrote that instead of respecting our cultural heritage, the opposition parties are demanding his impeachment. Is it now a punishable offense to stand up for Hindu traditions on one’s own land?
