The increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR has once again changed the daily routine of the people. After the new order of the government, now government and private offices will open only with 50 percent staff. The remaining employees will have to work from home, so please confirm the situation before leaving the office.
New Delhi. People of Delhi-NCR once again need to be cautious before going to office. In view of the increasing air pollution, the government has taken a big decision, which may change the daily routine of millions of employees. Under the new instructions, government and private offices have been asked to work with limited staff, so that congestion and pollution on the roads can be reduced.
Pollution increases, strict steps under GRAP
In view of the deteriorating air quality in the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), these instructions have been issued under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. This decision has been taken under the Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP. The government believes that the movement of a large number of employees every day increases traffic, which makes pollution more serious. For this reason, steps have been taken to limit attendance in offices.
New rule for government and private offices
According to the guidelines issued, all government offices and private companies operating here in Delhi-NCR will be able to open offices with only 50% employees. The remaining employees will be given the facility to work from home. This means that any department or company will have to call staff on rotation basis. Although offices related to essential services can be given exemption as per the situation, but it will be mandatory for general offices to follow this rule.
What will be the impact on employees and companies?
With this decision, while on one hand employees will get the opportunity to work from home, on the other hand companies will have to change their work plans. Before leaving the office, many employees must ask their boss or HR whether they want to come to the office or work from home. Due to less traffic, pollution is expected to be controlled to some extent. The government says that such steps may continue until the situation improves.
In Delhi-NCR, decisions like closure of schools and ban on construction work have been taken in the past also due to pollution. Now this new rule for offices clearly indicates that the government does not want to take any risk regarding air quality. In such a situation, both employees and companies will have to adapt themselves according to the situation and it will be necessary to follow the rules.
