Ticketless Passengers Caught: The effect of strict monitoring and investigation campaigns of Railways is clearly visible. A fine of Rs 1 crore was collected from about 21 thousand cases of ticketless and irregular travel in trains. In the month of November, about 4 thousand more ticketless passengers were caught as compared to last year, which shows the success of Railways’ action.
Jodhpur. Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway, during the intensive ticket checking campaign being conducted with the aim of discouraging ticketless travel, has succeeded in recovering a fine of more than Rs 1 crore from about 21 thousand cases detected for traveling without ticket and on irregular tickets. In November, the ticket checking staff of the division caught a total of 20 thousand 836 passengers traveling without or on irregular tickets and collected revenue of Rs 1 crore 6 lakh 63 thousand from them, which is Rs 15 lakh 47 thousand (16.97 percent) more than the fixed target of Rs 91 lakh 16 thousand for the month. Senior DCM of the division Hitesh Yadav said that the main objective of this campaign, which was run in various stations and trains of Jodhpur division under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi, was to encourage the tendency of passengers to buy tickets and ensure revenue conservation. It is noteworthy that the income earned and cases were more as compared to the month of November last year. This time, the division caught 4 thousand more ticketless passengers as compared to November 2024 due to which the income also increased by Rs 31 lakh.
Key figures of the campaign
– 11 thousand 895 cases of traveling without ticket, from which recovery of Rs 61 lakh 54 thousand 192 – 8931 cases of irregular ticket (general ticket in reserved coach), from which recovery of Rs 45 lakh – 10 cases of unbooked luggage were also caught – Rs 2.40 lakh recovered from 2210 passengers for violation of hygiene rules – 114 passengers caught smoking. A fine of Rs 22 thousand 900 was collected.

Railway administration said that this intensive ticket checking campaign will continue more effectively in the coming days. Also, passengers have been requested to ensure that they have valid tickets before travelling, and follow the rules of the Railways.
