Stock Market Holidays: National Stock Exchange (NSE) has released the list of stock market holidays for 2026, in which the market will remain closed for a total of 15 days throughout the year. The special thing is that the market is likely to open for a special session on 1 February 2026 (Sunday), the day the budget is presented.
Stock Market Holidays: National Stock Exchange (NSE) has released the list of official holidays of the stock market for the year 2026. According to this, next year the Indian stock market will remain closed for a total of 15 days. These holidays will be on the occasion of national festivals and major religious and cultural festivals celebrated across the country. This market holiday list is considered especially important for investors, traders and broking firms, so that they can prepare their trading and investment strategy in advance.
According to the calendar released by NSE, in the year 2026, there will be no trading in the stock market on big occasions like Republic Day, Holi, Good Friday, Eid, Diwali and Christmas. The special thing is that out of these 15 holidays, 5 are falling on Friday. This means that on many occasions investors can get the benefit of a long weekend, due to which the distance from the market will become a little longer.
Will the stock market open on Budget day (1 February, Sunday) also?
There is a possibility of a special trading session in the stock market on the budget day next year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the budget on 1 February 2026 (Sunday). It has been a tradition for many years that even if the Budget falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the stock market is opened for a special session so that investors and institutional players can immediately react to the Budget announcements. Due to this tradition, there is every possibility that the market will remain open on February 1, 2026 also.
