23 year old Nitika Lamba from Ambala, Haryana has once again brought glory to the city. Nitika Lamba has won the bronze medal in boxing in the Khelo India University Games 2025 held in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Nitika has two more sisters and her father works as a driver in the Cantonment Board.
Ambala. 23-year-old Nitika Lamba from Ambala, Haryana has won the bronze medal in the Khelo India University Games 2025. Driver’s daughter Nitika has two more sisters and both want to earn name in boxing. Actually, last month Nitika Lamba participated in the Khelo India University Games 2025 held in Bharatpur, Rajasthan and then won the bronze medal in the 48 kg weight category in boxing. Nitika has no brother.
Nitika Lamba told Local 18 that she lives in the Cantonment Board area of Ambala and has been taking boxing training for the last 8 years. His father is working as a driver in the Cantonment Board. The three sisters are getting a lot of support from the family. She told that although she is studying BA last year in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, but along with studies, she is also practicing boxing for 4 to 5 hours daily in the morning and evening. She has won gold medals in many state level boxing competitions, but now her dream is to bring back gold medals for India from abroad as well.
Nitika told that she gives the credit of this bronze medal to her family and coach Sanjay, because it is only because of them that she has been able to achieve this position today. Nitika Lamba’s father Karmaveer Singh told that he has three daughters and he does not consider them less than sons, because his two daughters play boxing game and they are making him proud. He told that Nitika’s sister Kalpana has also won the gold medal in Junior Asian Champion and she is also currently studying Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (BPES) in Amritsar. He told that his younger daughter is also currently studying in seventh class, but after seeing her two elder sisters, she also wants to learn boxing by taking inspiration from them.
He told that my three daughters will bring greater glory to the family than their sons. Now our family wants that in the future, my three daughters should win gold medals for the country and bring glory to Ambala, Haryana.
Minister Vij had given the reward
Coach Sanjay Kumar told that Nitika Lamba has been practicing boxing at the War Heroes Memorial Stadium of Ambala Cantonment for a long time. She prepares for boxing competitions for several hours every day. He said that as soon as Nitika Lamba returned to the stadium today, all her teammates welcomed her by feeding her laddus. He told that along with her practice, Nitika also gives training to children junior to her for state level competitions. He said that today Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij had also given an incentive amount of Rs 11,000 while congratulating Nitika Lamba.
