Goa Nightclub Fire: Recalling that day, Bhavna said, “We were all having fun. Everything was normal. Suddenly a fire broke out there.” He told, ‘Initially there was a small fire, but it could not be controlled, within some time the fire went out of control. My husband and my sisters got trapped in it. I saw all this with my own eyes.”
New Delhi. Bhavna Joshi, a resident of Karawal Nagar, Delhi, has lost her entire family in the Goa Night Club fire. Her husband and three sisters died in this accident and she alone survived. Bhavna is in deep shock after the incident and she expressed her pain while talking to IANS. Bhavna said, ‘What can I say, my entire family has been destroyed. My husband was the pillar of my house, my three sisters were with me. Everything was over in an instant. Those who died in the fire include Bhavana’s husband Vinod Kumar (43) and three sisters, Kamala Joshi (42), Anita Joshi (41) and Saroj Joshi (39). Bhavna was also present in the night club at that time and she survived.
He said that on the night of the accident they had entered the club at around 11:15 pm. Everything was normal. Music, dance and atmosphere everything seemed fine. Suddenly a small fire was seen, but there was no security system in the club. There was no fire alarm, no arrangement for emergency exit, no security personnel. Within seconds the fire went out of control and within two minutes the entire club was engulfed in smoke and fire. People could not even reach the gate. He said that the fire spread like water. No one even got a chance to understand.
Bhavna alleges that the club was running completely unauthorized and without a license. The owners had not made any kind of security arrangements. He said that the Luthra brothers who have been arrested should get the harshest punishment so that no other family is forced to face such a tragedy in the future.
The saddest thing is that even the Goa administration’s behavior after the accident is not sensitive towards them. Bhavna says that the administration is repeatedly contacting her and asking for bank details in the name of giving compensation of Rs 2 lakh. He said that we are being harassed by making repeated calls. We are being offered money like alms. This amount is nothing to me. My entire family left. Now what will I do with this money?
Bhavna says that no one has even contacted her properly, calls are being made only asking for compensation. The most important thing for him is justice, for his family and for all those who were victims of this accident. Bhavna says that strict action should be taken against those who ran the club illegally, did not make security arrangements and put people’s lives at risk. Also, the government will have to take strict steps to ensure that this incident does not happen again to any other family.
