Demand for local eggs increases in winter, know its benefits and method of consumption

Being rich in protein, vitamin A, E, K and omega-3 fatty acids, it plays a big role in protecting the body from diseases. This is the reason why these days the demand for local eggs has increased in rural areas including Khargone of Madhya Pradesh. Many people are seen setting up shops selling local eggs in tribal areas. Due to increasing demand, 40 to 50 eggs are sold per person in a day. According to veterinarian Dr. Khemandra Rodke, the nature of local eggs is warm, which provides natural warmth to the body in cold weather. The high quality protein present in these eggs helps in strengthening the muscles. Whereas zinc and phosphorus increase immunity. Vitamin D and calcium present in them strengthen the bones, which is especially helpful in providing relief from joint pain caused in cold. Omega-3 fatty acids improve mental health by nourishing the brain cells.

There are many delicious and nutritious ways to eat desi eggs in winter. Egg bhurji made in desi ghee is most liked, which gives extra heat to the body. In rural areas, small children are fed sweet bhurji mixed with egg and sugar in desi ghee before sunrise, while many people also drink raw egg. After this, drink the same amount of ghee as the egg. Some people break egg in milk and drink egg milk, which gives instant energy in cold weather. Some people also like to eat omelette made in desi ghee. If you want, you can also consume it in the form of boiled egg, egg fry, egg curry, egg roll and egg chilli.

Difference between desi hen and minaret eggs?
Experts say that there is a big difference between local eggs and white eggs of layer hen. Desi chickens roam in the open environment and eat grains and natural food, due to which their eggs get more nutrition. Desi eggs are small in size but heavy in weight and their yellow part is dark in color. The taste is also considered slightly salty and more nutritious. Whereas the white eggs of Minar hen are larger in size but lighter. Their yolk is light yellow and the nutrients are also relatively low, but sometimes due to lack of correct identification, people buy Minar eggs instead of local ones.

Identification of real and fake eggs
This is the reason why due to high demand during cold days, the supply of fake local eggs also increases in the market. Dr. Hemant Rokade explains that the real desi egg is small in size but heavy, whereas the fake one is big and light. The layer of real egg is thick and strong whereas the layer of fake egg is thin and soft. When fake eggs are rubbed, the color comes off. Real eggs do not shine whereas fake eggs look more shiny.
