Naib Shahar Qazi of Meerut says that the poor section of Muslims in Muslim areas are afraid that if they do not have the correct documents then they might be put in the detention center.
Meerut: Yogi government has intensified action against Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators living illegally in Uttar Pradesh. Biometric profile of illegal infiltrators caught in the detention center will be made so that they cannot enter the Indian border again. There is fear among Muslims after this decree. They are afraid of the word detention centre. This is the statement of Naib Shahar Qazi Rashedin of Meerut. He says that the people of the poor section are being troubled.
The process of SIR is going on in the entire state. Various types of political reactions are also coming regarding SIR. Amidst all this, Naib Shahar Qazi of Meerut says that the poor section of Muslims in Muslim areas are afraid that if they do not have the correct documents then they might be put in the detention center.
He said that it is a good thing that the work of SIR is going on. But the regret is that people are not going door to door in Muslim areas. They sit at one place and work from there. Meerut can be judged from the fact that 60 to 70 percent of the forms have been filled, but the participation of Muslim areas in this is less. Rashedin also said that the date for filling the form should be extended. Only fifty percent SIR would have happened in Muslim areas. A large section of Muslims are not educated. Due to lack of education people are not able to understand.
Qazi Rashedin also told that he has filled his SIR form. Also appealed to the councilors to help in getting SIR done for everyone in their areas, help should also be given from mosques. SIR is necessary, but the actual voter’s vote is not required. If people are not able to fill the form then their votes will be reduced. He also said that the infiltrators must be traced and action must be taken. Such people should be sent to detention center. Just have to see that wrong people are not sent to the detention centre.
Local people said that BLOs were not given as much training as they should have been given. There are many people who do not have proper documents. Especially the women who got married at the age of 19-20 could not get their vote either in their parents’ house or in their in-laws’ house. They say that in the case of women, the relationship should be considered as that of a real brother. There are votes in 2003 and if his parents are not alive then his vote should be on the basis of brotherly relationship. Real uncle and aunt’s family should also be considered as relations. There is confusion regarding tenants also. Landlords also do not want to allow tenants to vote. Tenants are facing the most problems. Their mapping is not being done. They say that it needs modification.
