There is news of great relief for the hearing-impaired children of Kanpur city and about 18 surrounding districts. Now free cochlear implant surgery is going to start in Ursala Hospital. As soon as approval is received from the Central Government, preparations in the hospital are in the final stages. Most effective implants for children aged 1–5 years
Cochlear implant is very beneficial for a child who cannot hear at all. Experts say that this surgery gives the best results at the age of 1 to 5 years. After surgery, with regular speech therapy, the child starts listening and speaking like normal children and is also able to continue school education easily. Till now, there are a large number of such children in the area, but due to expensive treatment and traveling to distant cities, many families were not able to undergo this procedure.
6 children found in screening, will be implanted in January
Recently, 42 children were examined in the screening camp organized by the Health Department. Of these, 6 children were found to have severe hearing loss and were considered suitable for cochlear implants. Now these children will undergo surgery in January 2026. The hospital administration has started the process of getting all the necessary documents, evaluation reports and deployment of expert team.

Now no expenses, no hustle and bustle of big cities
The cost of cochlear implant reaches Rs 4–5 lakh in private hospitals. Apart from this, thousands of rupees are spent on travel and accommodation when going to cities like Delhi-Mumbai. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that the aim is that no child is left behind due to expensive treatment.
