Betel Farming Tips: As soon as the temperature drops in winter, betel vines get affected rapidly, due to which problems like burning, withering and rotting of leaves increase. Agricultural experts believe that if protection is not done in time, the entire crop can be destroyed. In such a situation, temporary shading made of bamboo and straw is an easy and economical way to protect the vines from cold, frost and strong winds.
Betel leaf, full of medicinal properties, has great importance in our lives. Farmers have been cultivating betel leaves in our country for a long time. Betel leaf is cultivated in different ways in different parts of the country. Farmers cultivating betel leaves are also earning good profits. But there is a high risk of loss in this.
Narendra Pratap Singh, Horticulture Inspector of Rae Bareli district, says that farmers cultivating betel leaves should select that field. Where the humidity remains equal. So that they do not need to irrigate much. In severe cold weather, make a camp over the betel leaves. Due to which the weather remains warm. Do light irrigation during cold days, so that the betel vine and leaves will not get damaged.
For betel cultivation, farmers should first plow the field thoroughly and leave it open for some time, so that the remains of crops present in the field get destroyed. Also, before making Bareja, plow the field once again and make the soil friable.

First of all treat the soil. To treat the soil, mix Trichoderma in rotten cow dung manure. After preparing the mixture, sprinkle it in the field. Due to which the soil of the field will be treated. By doing this there will be no problem of phyto and root rot in the betel crop.
Farmers should use bamboo and straw for making bareja. Plant the bamboo in the ground row wise. After that make a thatch and cover it from all sides but keep in mind that the distance from bamboo to bamboo should be 50 cm. After that, plant betel leaf in it row wise.
While planting, keep in mind that the distance between rows should be 30 cm. In Kharif season, betel leaf is planted in the third week of August. Three to four days after planting the betel plant, irrigation should be done at an interval of two to two and a half hours. Do light irrigation during the rainy season.
