The rapidly growing opportunities in India’s AI sector have attracted the world’s big tech companies to make fresh investments. In this series, Microsoft has announced to make its biggest Asian investment till date in India, which will give a strong direction to the country’s AI capability. Company Chairman Satya Nadella has announced this after talking to PM Narendra Modi.
New Delhi. Microsoft has given a big boost to the country’s AI mission by announcing an investment of more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore in India. Company Chairman Satya Nadella said after talking to PM Narendra Modi that this is Microsoft’s biggest investment in Asia so far to make India an AI first future. This investment will focus on increasing AI infrastructure, skill development and digital capability in the country. Due to which the aim has been set to keep India at the forefront of the global AI ecosystem.
Large scale investment in AI infrastructure
This investment of $ 17.5 billion (about Rs 1.5 lakh crore) by Microsoft will be mainly spent on building state-of-the-art AI data centers, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing capabilities. The company wants to develop India as a center from where AI model training, deployment and research can support many countries of the world. According to experts, this investment can advance India’s digital economy manifold in the next decade.
Strong foundation for skill development and AI talent
The second major part of the investment will be spent on AI skill development programs, which aim to train millions of youth in emerging technologies like AI, cloud and cyber security. Microsoft will work with the government, universities and industry to develop new training modules so that India can rapidly become a global AI talent hub. Even in the conversation with PM Modi, Satya Nadella called ‘AI for All’ vision a priority.
India’s global tech capability will get a new dimension
This investment will not only strengthen India’s tech sector, but will also take the country forward in the race where countries like America and China are competing for AI leadership. Microsoft says that India’s digital policies, young talent and rapidly growing startup ecosystem make it the biggest contender to become an AI superpower. This announcement is being considered a strategic win for India, which will give a new dimension to employment, research and high-value technology development in the coming years.
