Goa Police has written a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs to cancel the passports of Saurav Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, after which notices were issued to the Luthra brothers by the Passport Office. The Ministry of External Affairs told Goa Police that the process of canceling the passport is going on. On the other hand, Goa authorities have now completely demolished Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra’s ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ night club in Vagator. On Saturday, 25 people had died in the fire incident in the club.
Apart from this, a senior official said that Goa Police has issued a ‘Lookout Circular’ (LOC) against Ajay Gupta and Surinder Kumar Khosla, who were among the owners of the night club that was destroyed by the fire. Hours after nightclub owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra fled to Thailand, the LOC was issued against Gupta and British national Khosla.
Addressing a press conference at Anjuna police station in North Goa, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Varsha Sharma said that a lookout circular has been issued against both the owners of the nightclub, Gupta and Khosla. Sharma said, ‘Khosla is a citizen of Britain.’ Sharma said that Goa Police is taking the help of Interpol to bring back Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who have fled to Phuket. He said, ‘All possible efforts are being made to bring him back to India.’
Sharma said, ‘Efforts to trace Saurabh and Gaurav had started immediately after the fire incident. He was not in Goa at that time. The DIG said that two Goa government officials, the then panchayat director Siddhi Halarnkar and the then member secretary of the Goa State Pollution Control Board, Shamila Monteiro, have been asked to join the investigation.
Police have so far arrested five people, including the night club’s chief general manager Rajeev Modak, general manager Vivek Singh, bar manager Rajeev Singhania, gate manager Riyanshu Thakur and Bharat Kohli.
