Patna News: Vijay Sinha said that if the complicity of police station in-charges in illegal business is revealed, strict action is certain. Citing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy on corruption, he said that corruption will not be accepted at any level.
Patna. The government has started major action against illegal sand mining and sale in Bihar. Mining Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, in a press conference on Tuesday, clearly said that illegal mining, cutting and selling will not be tolerated at any cost in the state. He said that on Monday, Patna DM, SSP and departmental officers conducted a joint operation and seized 28 tractors laden with illegal sand in Digha police station area. FIR has been registered in Digha police station in this case.
32 lakh fine on tractor, indications of action against police station in-charge
Vijay Sinha said that a penalty of Rs 32 lakh will be levied on all the tractors seized. Along with this, while raising questions on the role of police, he said that CCTVs are installed in the police station through which tractors laden with illegal sand pass. If action is still not being taken, then it is the negligence of the police station in-charge. This will not be tolerated at all. Those giving information will get a reward of Rs 10 thousand
The Mining Minister said that if any person gives information about illegal sand trade, he will be considered a ‘warrior’ and will be given a reward of Rs 10,000. He assured the public that the common people will not be harassed unnecessarily. He clarified – “If someone is taking soil from his land for his personal construction or need, then no one will bother him.”
Praise for the work of the mining department
Vijay Sinha said that many better works have been done in the mining department in the last years. The performance of the officers, secretaries and the entire team has been commendable. He said that there will be no change in the policy made by the government.
Auction of 7 new mineral blocks, maximum minerals in South Bihar
Additional Chief Secretary (Mining) Vinod Dugal, present in the same program, informed that the Government of India will auction 7 new mineral blocks of Bihar in its next list. Dugal said that the maximum mineral reserves have been found in South Bihar. In the financial year 2024–25, the Mining Department has collected a revenue of Rs 3536 crore. He said that this revenue is one of the highest ever recorded and it is expected to increase further in the next years.
